RECORDS AT LONG DISTANCES Speedy Performances of Some of Americas Greatest Horses. Compilation of Best Times from Mile and a Sixteenth to Four Miles. In Daily Racing Form of January 4 there was presented an array of American records at distances from a quarter of a mile to one mile inclusive from 1SS0 to date. Continuing this compilation, here are the records, from one mile and a sixteenth ui to and including four miles, covering the same Verlod of time. A feature in connection with these records is that in a number of instances they serve to recall to mind some. of the most notable performances of the foremost thoroughbreds of the American turf, performances of truly great horses carrying heavy imposts at top speed over stamina-testing distances now but infrequently run at.
