KENTUCKY TRACKS ARE SOLO Biggest Deal of American Turf History Now Completed. 4 Syndicate Pays ,700,000 for Latonia, Two Louisville Tracks and Lexington Course. LOIISVILLE. Ky.. February 12. The biggest transaction that ever tool: place in the history of ilie American turf was consummate today when the leal for the four Kentucky tracks was put through at a conference held here this afternoon. One million seven hundred thousand dollars was paid for the four tracks and Latonia, Churchill Downs. Douglas Park and the Kentucky Association course will pass into the hands tof the Kentucky syndicate tomorrow, when final payments will he made. The prices were: .000 for Latonia and Douglas Park, 75,000 for Churchill Downs and 75,000 for Hie Kentucky Association course. Cnder the new arrangements Douglas Park will lie closed. Churchill Downs will open Saturday, .May 10 and Rice nineteen days. The Kentucky Derby will have 0,000 added, an increase of ,000. making it the richest Derby in the country. All of Douglas Parks stakes, including the Kentucky Handicap with 10,000 added, will be run at Churchill Downs. All told, 95,000 will be given away at this course. The Latonia Derby will also have an increase in added money, probably to 5,000, while other stakes there will also be much more valuable.
