RECORD OF THE LEADING STEEPLECHASE JOCKEYS IN AMERICA FOR THE PAST ELEVEN YEARS Jockey W. Allen, who in a time of madness took his own life last year, was consistently one of our best steeplechase riders for many years past. The following tabulation shows that he rode a number of winners in every one of the last eleven years, a record to which none of his competitors can point. The net result was that in piloting the winners of 101 races he won much more money for his employers than any other steeplechase rider. F. Williams, also a highly competent rider, was nearest to him in races won and money won, but had two barren years. Many of the riders in this list have retired from the saddle and a few have paid the last debt. Inspection will bring back to recollection names quite familiar a few years back and noted for feats of skill and daring: 190S. 1S09. 1910. 1011. 1912. 19X3. 1914. 1915."lSlK. 1917. 1918. Totals.
