i 1 ; I t 1 NOTED VETERAN TURFMAN IS DEAD LEXINGTON, Ky.. March 5. Word reached here this week of the death of Colonel-Robert A. Swigert from apoplexy at his winter residence at Pinehurst, Ps. t. Colonel Swigert was for many years a prominent member or the winter cottage colony there and was vice-president and one of the most active members of the Pinehurst Jockey Club. Colonel Swigert was some years ago a leading tayette County breeder and horseman. He was a brother of Mrs. Leslie Combs. Colonel Swigert, with his father, Daniel Swigert, bred many famous horses at their Elmendorf Farm, afterward the property of James B. Hacgin. He won the American Derby with Carlsbad in 1S92.
