FISHING AND HUNTING NOTES More than one-fourth of the 12.000 different species of fishes are found in the waters of North Anierica north of the Isthmus of Panama. The serious, shortage of sardines in southern California during the past .summer has suggested the idea of locating the schools of sardines by means of airplanes. After an absence of almost a century beavers have returned to the State of New York. The animals have taken up their abode in Mud Ditch and Bashagill, about two miles south of Wurtsboro. Like Newark, N. J... the city of Mansfield, Ohio, stocks a park lake with small mouth, black bass, yellow perch and. other game fish, but unlike Newark it limits fishing to women and children. The stocking of the lake was uiade possible through the efforts of the sportsmen, of Mansfield.
