GOOD INCREASE IN STAKE VALUES Three New Ones Added to the Jamaica List Ambrose Preece Dies. NEW YORK. N. Y Marcli 6. Three new stakes have been added to the list of the Metropolitan Jockey Club, which holds forth at Jamaica. They are the Itainimw Handicap of ,000 at three-quarters, the Olympic Selling Stakes of ,000 at three-quarters and the Montauk Selling Stakes, for two-year-olds, at five and a half furlongs. Additional guarantees have been added to the .Southampton and the Stuyvesant Handicaps. They have been raised from ,500 to ,000. The Colorado Stakes, for two-year-olds, has also been increased from ,000 to $.,000. In future the Long Beach Handicap will lie over a mile and a sixteenth course. Heretofore it was a mile and an eighth dash. The Stuyvesant Handicap has been changed from three-quarters to one mile. Godfrey Preece arrived from Havana on the steamship Mexico today. Before reaching New York Mr. Preece was informed by wireless of the sudden death of his brother, Ambrose Preece, who owned .1 riding academy in Washington. The late Mr. Preece raced a stable of horses in England, and on one occasion one of his horses finished second, in the Grand National. At the end of New Orleans racing Quentin Preece will come to Maryland, while his brother, Godfrey, will ride at Hot Springs.
