OFFICES OF KENTUCKY JOCKEY CLUB Headquarters Being Established in Louisville Gene Elrod to Remain in Charge of PariMutuels LOUISVILLE Ky March 22 The Kentucky Jockey Club has leased a suite of offices in the Paul Jones building in this city which will be used as the headquarters of the company The offices are now being fitted up and will be ready for occupancy during the early part of next week Col M J AVinn vicepresident and general man ¬ ager who left here last Tuesday is due to return later on in the week At present he is in New York and from there he will go to Lexington for the purpose of familiarizing himself jyjtluconiUr lions there Prior to leaving Louisville tM AVinn stnted that he would make no appointments of officials until after his return Col AVinn has practically decided to make his future home in Covington as he believes he can thereby best serve Me interests of the different tracks that he will manage manageJohn John Hachmeistcr the retiring manager of La toniti according to his present intentions will not affiliate himself with any other race track Yes ¬ terday in company with Harvey Myers he left for AVashington for the purpose of straightening out the matter of Latonias excess profit tax AVhen this business is concluded he will depart for Naples Florida for a months vacation vacationGene Gene Elrod who has been in charge of the pari mutuel department on the Kentucky tracks since the time the machines replaced the bookmakers will continue in the same position under the new regime His work has always proved highly satis factory and it was only natural that he should be retained in the position Mr Elrod since the close of the Latonia fall meeting has spent his time between this city and Cincinnati and ho will be in Louisville until it is time for him to go to Lexington to prepare for that meeting Mr Klrod was at Churchill Downs this morning and appears to be enjoying better health than ever everCharles Charles F Grainger who with H C Applegate will attend to the details of the Churchill Downs meeting during the absence of Col AVinn also vis ¬ ited the Downs this morning and mingled with the horsemen on the backstretch during the early morning work hours Mr Grainger has practically recovered from his last attack of illness and ex l ects to be able to keep up his interest in racing for many years to come He is most enthusiastic over the present outlook for the sport in Kentucky and predicts the coming season particularly the meeting at Churchill Downs will surpass any that have gone before
