SIROCCO BEATEN IN HAVANA FEATURE Finished Unplaced in the Monserrate Handicap Easily Won by Hamilton A HAAANA Cuba March 22 The Monserrate Han ¬ dicap at five and a half furlongs purse 700 was the feature at Oriental Park this afternoon It brought out a field of good sprinters and developed Into a good contest the winner turning up in Hamilton A which beat Etruscan by a length with Sparkler third The favorite Sirocco finished fourth The latter was outrun all the way and was never dan ¬ gerous The attendance this afternoon was even larger than usual on Saturday and many tourists were among the crowd present Two breeders purses were on the program l loth oth at a mile and twenty yards run as the fourth and fltth races Lady James won the former coining from behind in the stretch run and beating Crystal Day by a length Schemer wheeled when the barrier was sprung and t was left Nephthys won the fifth leading home Taffy by a couple of lengths Tiic webbing got caught in the bridle of TImkins when the start came and jockey Howard on Zlm was forced to pull up Scnor upScnor A H Diaz whose twoyearolds have shown splendid form at this meeting Tccounted for the baby race when Sea Bat secured a nose decision ovtr Doublet II Grey Rump was third another nose away awayPickens Pickens rode the winners of the first two races and Thurber was astride thei winner of the third and fourth C Howard cut across with Bac in front of the others at the start in the sixth He was fined 25 and suspended for the reniniiiderNof the meeting Burke was suspended for ten days
