EXTERMINATOR IN FINE FORM Gives Much Weight and anEasy Beating to Lucky B Red Red Rose Gives a DisplayVrof DisplayVrofUnflinching Unflinching Gameness From a Poor Start HOT SPRINGS Ark March 22 Exterminator which is expected to cut a wide swath in this seasons racing in the older division made an aus ¬ picious debut this afternoon in the 800 handicap at a mile and seventy yards in which he carried 120 pounds and scored in easy fashion from Lucky B and Drastic to which he wns conceding much weight His time of 143 is only twofifths of a second from the track record recordExterminator Exterminator was at all times most in favor but Drastic shared support with him and the lit ters failure to give the Kilmer representative a stouter battle was disappointing Lucky B racing in his best form moved into the lead right at the outset and made a fast pace but Exterminator was always close to him under restraint and when Schuttinger called on him in the last quarter lie raced into the lead at once and was going easily and smoothly nt the finish Lucky B had no difficulty in outstaying Drastic for second place while Ticket the only other starter was a follower followerTodays Todays attendance was easily the best of the present meeting and established a record for this track Excellent condition for the sport again pre ¬ vailed and the racing was wholesome with numer ¬ ous close finishes finishesThe The opening race brought about the local debut of Mrs Payne AAhitneys good filly Red Red Rosec JUIiat sterling miss barely escaped defeat due to therough race she had and her victorv was only accomplished in the last stride after being forced to run the hardest race of her career Her neat downfall was brought about soon after the start when she was cut off badly and it enabled Rarur to race into a long lead Red Red Rose was far back on the stretch turn but responding well to Connellys urging she gained steadily and display ¬ ing an extra dash of speed in the last sixteenth managed to get up in the last stride It was a wonderful exhibition of gamenes on her part and the big crowd cheered her lustily when she returned to the scales scalesBad Bad riding on the part of J Grotli who only recently was dismissed from army service was re ¬ sponsible for Mildas defeat in the seeond race by Miss Orb Milda was the best arid with a good ride the Schorr filly would have won wonTHREE THREE STRAIGHT FOR EULOGY EULOGYEulogy Eulogy scored her third succesive victory when she led her opponents honie In the third race Rookery with the novice Coltiletti in the saddle showed a vastly better form than she did under the ride that G Preece Jr gave her in her last race Eulogy was claimed by L A Broaddns for 1000 1000Nepperhan Nepperhan furnished the upset in the fifth race when he just managed to get up In the last few strides to defeat Bringhurst The latter is only a shadow of his former self and tired badly when pressed hard Blue Paradise was well intended in this race but any chance she might have had went glimmering as a result of a bad start startThe The closing race also resulted in an upset When Hondo just managed to last it out long enough to win by a head from Baby Cal with Gleipner follow ¬ ing The showing of Mab in this race was a poor one and she raced far below her best form formHenry Henry McDaniel trainer of Exterminator was well satisfied with the performance of his charge The winner of last years Kentucky Derby and Latonia Cup is in excellent fettle and todays race will add vastly to his good form He should prove a formidable factor in the older division which will handicapsAssistant compete for the big handicaps Assistant starter William Snyder who had to undergo an operation while at New Orleans came in from the Crescent City this morning and re ¬ sumed his duties dutiesJames James McClelland has bought on private terms the brood mare Neva W dam of Sunny Slope from the ATinters estate in Shoshone County Nevada It is Mr McClellands intention to breed Neva W to Sweep SweepJ J H Rossetcrs Kentucky Derby candidate Farm ¬ ingdale worked threeeighths from the barrier this morning in 3 i Under Fire which Pat Dunne is preparing for the Derby covered a mile easily in 145 The AVanderer was sent a mile in 140 and Sailor another Kentucky Derbv prospect ran a mile hard held in 148 148I I Raymond who is extensively interested in racing around Montreal was among yesterdays visitors
