KENTUCKY JOCKEY CLUBS SLOGAN General Manager Matt Winn Says New Organization Guarantees A Square Deal for Everybody LOUISVILLE Ky March 31 A square deal for everybody This will be the slogan of the Kentucky Jockey Club owners of lie four nice tracks in Ibis state according to vicepresident and general iiumatrcr Matt J Wimu who has just re turned fiiu j itsteTil trip Tbe jimy rjfjahlz tion Col Winn stated in the course of nnv inter view although controlled by private capital will conduct racing in this state as though it were a public institution and it will endeavor to conduct the different meetings o as to gain the largest possible measure of public support Everything will be open and aboveboard and everybody will be given a square deal The business sessions of the club will not be held behind closed doors and anyone who has a grievance whether he be either stockholder horseman or patron will be given a hearing We want the confidence of the public and will endeavor to gain the same by supplying the best kind of racing and insisting that all of pur employes treat the patrons with all due courtesy Every consideration will be given the horsemen They will race for the largest possible purses and if they have any complaint to make they can come to me and feel assured that they will be given proper consideration The stockholders of the club can rest assured that their investment will be util ¬ ized to secure the best possible results The books of the club will be open at all times for their inspection inspectionCol Col Winn has been busy during his absence from tlie city and has little time to give to the matter of the selection of officials for the different tracks under his management The organization of the club with its many details is now occupying his attention and until this work is completed the list of officials will not be announced announcedYesterday Yesterday afternoon Col Winn met R L Baker by appointment for a conference over matters per ¬ taining to the Lexington meeting of which Mr Baker will have charge Col Winn will probably make a flying trip to J xingon for the purpose of settling a number of matters in connection with that meeting that require his attention attentionCol Col Winn during his visit east was besieged with inquiries regarding the Kentucky Derby and found that the public interest in the big nice in Xew York anil other cities was greater than ever For the next three weeks Col Winn will spend most of his time at the clubs headquarters in this city with an occasional trip to Latonia and Lexington The appointment of Harry Breivogel to succeed Col Winn as manager of the I aurel track will in no wise interfere with his position of resident manager at Latonia inasmuch as the meeting at the latter track does not conflict with that of the Maryland course courseWhile While nothing definite has been announced it is believed that Tom Young the efficient superinten ¬ dent at Churchill Downs will be placed also in charge of Douglas Park where tlie services of a resident track superintendent will not be required as long as racing is not conducted at that plant It is also believed in certain quarters that Chas Xolte superintendent at Douglas Park and who acted in a like capacity under John Hachmeister at La tonia will be transferred to the latter track
