MARSHAL HAIGS TRIBUTE TO HORSE The following foreword to Captain Sidney Gal treys book The Horse and the War was written by Sir Douglas H iig The power of an army as a striking weapon is largely dependant on its mobility Mobility is largely dependant on the suitability and fitness of animal for army work I hop that this account of our army horses and mulro will bring home to the peoples of the Brit ¬ ish Empire and the Lnited States the wisdom of breeding animals for the two military virtues of hardiness and activity and I would add that the best anlmnls for army purposes are also the most valuable for agriculture commerce and sport
