PIMLICO STAKES FILL PHENOMENALLY RecordBreaking List of Nominations to tho Spring Fixtures of the Maryland Jockey Club NEW YORK N Y April 14 Entries for the spring stakes at Pimlico havs filled phenomenally Every horse with stake possibilities lias been nomi ¬ nated in one or more of the features An idea of the enormity of the entries can be cleaned from the number of nominations in the Spring Juvenile to which 229 horses were entered representing seventyfour different owners This is said to be the greatest number of horses ever entered in one race in this country excepting in races where the produce of mares are named such as the Futurity Matron Stakes and similar events This large entry list is due to the free entrance which enables owners to nominate every horse worthy and leaves no horse out which may develop later whicli has been the case in many stakes in years past The next largest entry list in point of numbers is in the Pimlico Nursery which closed last October witii 227 nominations Practically every stable in the country is represented from the most fashionable to the most lowly lowlyThe The following is the list of stakes with the number of entries in each and the number of dif ¬ ferent interests they represent representSpring Spring Juvenile 229 entries seventyfour dif ¬ ferent interests interestsPimlico Pimlico Spring Handicap 109 entries seventy two different interests interestsPreakness Preakness 112 entries fiftynine different in ¬ terests terestsPimlico Pimlico Oaks fiftyseven entries forty different interests interestsGreen Green Spring Valley Steeplechase sixtysix en ¬ tries thirtyfour different interests interestsPimlico Pimlico Nursery closed last October 227 entries fortyfour different interests interestsThe The showing of the Green Spring Valley Steeple ¬ chase is likely to please those devoted to cross ¬ country racing It had been feared that jumping material would be scarce this year but the number of entries shown in this event speaks volumes for that branch of the sport at all tracks tracksThe The J J Hallenbeck horses now being prepared at Aqueduct will be moved to Pimlico in time for its opening on May 1
