NEW YORKERS MYSTERIOUS NOTIONS Thinks Neither Billy Kelly Nor Eternal Will Win the Kentucky Derby NEW YORK N Y April 20 There is a feeling among horsemen and turf followers here that both Billy Kelly and Eternal will be beaten in the Ken ¬ tucky Derby They seem to be uncertain what horse or horses are going to beat the two stars but the atmosphere of suspicion prevails that when it conies to going a route of a mile and a quarter that neither Billy Kelly nor Eternal will be suited Rumors are afloat that James Rowe is giving Blue Laddie a special preparation for the race and that Sir Barton might be the mainstay of the Commander Ross stable when the day for racing ccmes along Blue Laddie is at Brookdale con ¬ sequently no one excepting those most concerned know anything about his condition but there is every indication he is being pointed for a race of importance and that all the good threeyearolds are being carefully watched by friends of the Whitney stable Albert Simons eyed Billy Kellys last race closely and he remarked after the finish that the gelding was straight to beat Charlie Leydeeker He probably believes that Blue Laddie would not have to be kicked out to beat Charlie Leydecker On top of these arguments comes the fact that Sir Barton worked a mile and an eighth in 154 over the Havre do Grace course which certainly has to be considered meritorious Blue Laddie and Sir Barton are but two of the possibili ¬ ties there may be others in hiding This pair however is sufficient to cause discussion regarding the outcome of the Derby which does not look nearly as rosy for Billy Kelly and Eternal as it did a few weeks ago according to lobby con ¬ versation by frequenters of the hotels hotelsAgain Again the weather was s uninviting in this dis ¬ trict today that while trainers on the local tracks ventured out not one horse was given anything but healthy exercise none going fast enough to even warm up upThe The Vlau horses have gone to Pimlico seven in all and trainers are much enthused about their condition All are ready to race and if Omar Khayyam does not win a stake or two horsemen hereabouts will be much deceived The same goes for Westy Hogan and George Starr
