CAME NEAR LOSING SIR BARTON Trainer Bedwell Tells How Accident Almost Bobbed the Turf of a Great Racer XEW YOltIC X Y May 28 In speaking of Sir Burton trainer Bedwell said today he would not have given much for him last fall at Laurel I had just worked him threequarters in 113 said Bed well and was rerdy to run him in any kind of a race but he got in Foregrounds way one morning and the latter kicked him severely in the stifle Ab ¬ scesses formed and shortly after Sir Barton had a temperature of 105 degrees I thought it was all over with him but he finally got around and that is the reason he did not race late in the year Trainer yearTrainer Bedwell has only recently discovered the trouble with War Pennant He has had a blind quarter crack which is now being treated He will be fit to race at Saratoga SaratogaCommander Commander Ross and his trainer will hold a con ¬ sultation in the near future whether Sir Barton or Billy Kejly will be sent after the Latonia Derby This stake is run on June 7 and the Utilization on June 11 It is possible that Sir Barton may be reserved for the Belmont Stakes and Billy Kelly sent to Ijlonia If the latter is decideil upon by Com ¬ mander Ross then George Odom will ship King Plaudit for the l itonia Derby
