TO CONTINUE AT CHURCHILL DOWNS LOUISVILLE Ky May 29 The idea of aban ¬ doning Churchill Downs in favor of Douglas Park does not meet with public approval Sentiment is decidedly against a discontinuance of racing over the historic course and it is now practically cer ¬ tain that the Downs will continue to be the scene of the Derby and other popular Kentucky fixtures fixturesGeneral General manager Matt J Winn and resident manager Charles F Grainger are now formulating plans for extensive improvements to be made on the plant In all probability the space in front of the present paddock will be utilized for addi ¬ tional grandstand purposes and the large tract of land in the back of the betting pavilion will also serve a good purpose purposeThe The main grandstand will also come in for con ¬ siderable attention and when rebuilt which it is intended the seating capacity will be increased extensively extensivelyThe The main improvements will probably not be completed until next spring but it is likely that many changes in the plant will be finished for the fall racing especially if the plan of making Louis ¬ ville the final racing point for the season is ad ¬ hered to
