N Y August 14 The Catskill Selling Stakes of 2500 guaranteed with a net value to the winner of 1950 was the out ¬ standing offering of an otherwise mediocre pro ¬ gram fitting in with the weather and track con ¬ ditions It resulted in a victory for Wyoming carrying the silks of R T Wilson president of the Saratoga Racing Association The horses victory was achieved with the utmost ease for he led for the entire way and Ensor was easing him up at the end Grundy was the runnerup from the rise of the barrier and held on in good style though seem ¬ ing handicapped by the going Woodtrap plodded on and catching the others tiring in the stretch landed in third place Miller Henderson thought highly of Grundys chances in the race and in addition to losing a substantial wager he lost the horse when Steve Judge claimed him for 4300 Grundy was entered for 2200 Tire fourtlf ra ee at one mile which brought to ¬ gether fillies and mares proved the most exciting contest of the afternoon with Rose dOr getting the verdict in a close finish The winner was an outstanding favorite with the W R Coe pair composed of Terentia and Herodias next in esteem Ormonda the only other starter came in for quite some attention by a smart element At the out ¬ set it appeared as if the favorite would be beaten off for she followed lengths back of all with Herodias and her stable companion showing the way At the half mile ground Ormonda moved up with a rush and displaced the gray filly out of the lead and promised well at this stage for the favorite was still far back But in the next quarter Rose dOr began rousing herself and gaining in steady fashion had the leader almost corralled when the stretch turn was reached Ormonda however was not done and she continued on gamely but Cal lahans more energetic ride prevailed in the last sevepty yards and the favorite won wonSTRAGGLING STRAGGLING STABT ELIMINATES BAIDEB BAIDEBSome Some good mud runners made the contest in tho fifth race at a mile and an eighth and the start which was directly in front of the stand found most of the field off straggling with Raider back of the others His connections had thought highly of his chances but the sendoff disposed of them Hauberk which has been showing consistent win ¬ ning form in his last starts again was victor but only after a hard struggle to down Recount The latter might have triumphed but for coming wide in the stretch The race was a handicap under selling conditions and anticipating a claim for him Andrew Miller also had one in and retained his horse for 4300 4300The The colors of A H Diaz the Cuban turfman were again prominent and were carried to victory by Blue Wrack a son of Wrack Ocean Blue The youngster showed himself to be thoroughly at home in the soft going for after a slow beginning he settled down and steadily overhauled the leaders drawing out in the last eighth to win going away Ira Wilson hard ridden managed to land second placer with Phantom Fair third The Kentucky owned Arrow Point threatened during the early running to win easily but quit badly in the last eighth Sammy the favorite acted badly at the post and was much used there in several break DISASTBOUS DAY
