CLEOPATRA raced in nearest pursuit of the leader and. linishing, gamely under punishment, was gaining at the finish. CAPTAIN HERSIILER was hard ridden all the way. saved ground on the stretcli turn and easily held AVILDAIR safe through the last eighth. The latter quit in the stretch drive. AVon handily; second and third driving. MIDNIGHT SIN followed RIKLE closely under slight restraint in the early running and, taking the lead on the stretch turn, hejd on resolutely when challenged. KASHMIR gradually improved his position and came fast from the eighth post, but could not overtake the leader. RIKLE showed the most early spited, but quit in the stretch drive. BALLYMOOXEY, on the inside for the first half, came around on the outside in the stretch and finished gamely under punishment. AAAR MACHINE closed up steadily from a slow beginning. KINXOUL raced forwardly and saved ground on all the turns, but tired in the last sixteenth and was driving hard at the end. SAMMY, under pressure all the way. came fast in the stretcli, but was tiring in the closing strides. ROUND ROBIN closed a gap and finished with a rush through the last eighth and was going fastest of all but the winner at tin- end. DAAID HARUM lacked early speed and came wide. Loftus carried the webbing of the barrier about his waist for the entire race and was not able to do full justice to KING THRUSH. CARMANDALE set a fast pace to the stretch and quit.
