BRYNGAR KINGS PLATE FAVORITE Commander Ross Filly Expected at Blue Bonnets Today Mondaine Works Well for Big Race. MONTREAL, Que.. August 29. With the running of the Kings Plate and Provincial Nursery only a few days away, the trainers are making good use of their time and hustling the eliglblcs along in trials. The going at Blue Bonnets was in splendid condition this morning and the majority of the ten nominated for the .Plate were worked, in preparation for a final work-out Saturday morning. The two-year-old Bryngar, owned by J. K. L. Ross, will bo shipped from Saratoga tonight and will arrive here on Saturday morning. She has been kept on edge by galloping over the course at Saratoga since her last race about a week ago. This will be the first time that the colors of J. K. L. Ross have ever been carried in this event, and Bryngar stands out in her work and racing over the other eligibles. - u j .. Maladroit, owned by Donat Raymorid;,is,Ms6: at Saratoga, and will be shipped along with the Rosw filly Friday night. Maladroit was sent u mile and a quarter at Saratoga this week, going the distance in the heavy going in 2:10. Maladroit -will Mate Mondaine as his stable companion in the Plate race. Mr. Raymond has arranged for jockey John Loftus tus to ride Maladroit in the Plate. Loftus will also ride Bryngar in the Nursery, as Sande will remain, in New York to ride at Belmont Park. The best work shown so far for the Plate is that of Mondaines. This horse worked the full distance in 2:14f although he was driven out at the end. St. llilaire is another which lias shown a good work. This mare worked with Silk Bird, which found the task of boating her more than lie could do, both being whipped out at the finish. The work was made in 2:15. The barriers will be in position Saturday morning, and trainers desiring to school their eligibles will have an opportunity of doing so, as Phil McGinniss, who will do the starting, will be at the course.
