NORTH-WOOD, always a prominent contender, finished gamely under pressure through the last eighth. ROBERT OLIVER was far out of contention for the first turn of the field, then closed up steadily to the last fence and tired. NONESUCH fell at the fourteenth and ARDENCRAIG refused to go.
