Montfort .Tones, one of the newcomers on the turf, won the Beldame Handicap, the stake feature of the after -iioan, with Tlielma K., this being his second victory since his debut as an owner. While Thelma K. won easily, the result might have been different had not Rico on Truly Rural, the well backed first, choice, been too busy watchini; Flying Flower and failed to see Thelma E. until it was too late. A. K. Macombors Sagamore left the maiden class by defeating the well meant Irish Dream in the first nice. Damask, the favorite, failed to be a factor. Robert Oliver was a handy winner of the steeplechase over Corps a Corps and Jay Bird. There were many scratches in the third race, and Miss Bryn, wiiich was in the also eligible list, proved the winner. lhe mile and five-sixteenths race furnished another upset for backers of favorites when Monomoy led home Sasin, while Ticket was outdistanced throughout. Again in the sixth Elfin Queen failed the talent, finishing third to Inia Frank and ligcon Wing. Kummer and Elisor divided the riding honors of the day with t.wo winners each. T. P.
