LAUREL FALL MEETING OPENS TODAY BALTIMORE. Mil., September 30. With the opening of the annual race meeting at Laurel at hand predictions as to what is in store for Marylands devotees of the great sport of racing seem both timelv and of importance. The improvements at the course, which have been maue under the supervision of the new management, are so many and o elaborate that competent judges do not hesitate to class the place as the equal of the best in the entire country. This applies to every department that goes to provide for racing and its natrons. It is Unirel Park in a new dress, modish and HP to date in every particular, not alone complete, but designed to provide comforts out of the ordinary for both the public and the- racing men; that, is, the owners, trainers and others actively participating. For five months an army of skilled workers has been kept busy making ready, and when the gales are opened Wednesday for the running off of the initial program everything will be spick and Blls" to the class of sport that will be furnished dining the month, it will be of a grade that will not alone delight local turfites, but will bring from ill sections of the country those always keen for racing out of the ordinary. The entries for the several stakes which closed recently have brought ;i response that far exceeds all records; not alone for Laurel, but for any track in the country. Phis material .which is named for the fixtures will of course be available for the overnight races, and the program has been framed to provide . ror them numerous opportunities to be in competition.
