CRANK was saved close up until in the final eighth, where lie passed the leaders, but was tiring at the end and had to be ridden out to outstay JACK STUART. The latter closed a big gap and finished with a rush. FRANKLIN also made up ground and ontgamod OCT THE WAY. The latter set a fast pace for five-eighths and tired. SIR BARTON was waited with until well around the far turn before making his move, then went to the leaders with a rush and, after being forced wide when entering the stretch, raced into the lead in the last eighth and won going away. MAI HATTER showed great speed and set a terrific pace under restraint, hut tired in the stretch drive. AUDACIOUS ran a good race and outgamed THUNDERCLAP for third place. THRIFT, after being reserved behind the leaders, moved up rapidly -on the stretch turn and, catching SCOTCH VERDICT tiring, won going away. SCOTCH VERDICT set a good pace, but was made too much use of and gave way when challenged. GOLDEN GLOW was sore when going to the post, but ran a good race. FAIRY PRINCE ran fairly well.
