The vastly Improved guiding Breeze llmt W. H. Fizer is training for G. II. Abbott fnrnisheU the stellar incident in connection with Jefferson Park racing this afternoon when he scored easily in the feature race, his third consecutive victory, and reduced the mile record from 1:10 to 1:39. With better racing luck lie would have achieved his victory in easier style nnd probably run faster, but his backers, and they were numerous, for the horse was the shortest priced favorite of the afternoon, wen; given an anxious period soon after the start when Breeze stumbled and was in imminent danger of going down, But Robinson succeeded in keeping him on his feet. lie lost much ground by the mishap nnd seemed unable to fully recover his stride until Hearing the half mile ground, where he finally settled down and began wearing his opponents down. The next eighth found him almost up to the lenders head, and In the stretch sprint lie drew out to win easily from Jack Mount, which had gained rapidly in the last eighth and overhauled Trusty for second place. Breezes race was a sparkler,, but Tailor Maid shared honors with him in the race, for that filly unseated Coltiletti at the start and she rounded the course riderless. No particular attention was paid to her while she was far back of the others, but she moved up with n great burst of speed after passing the half mile post, and continuing on swiftly passed the laggards and In the last eighth set anil for Breeze and beat him to the" finish by a scant head. Robinson was puzzled to find one of the others charging down on him in sncli resolute style and began plying the whip to Breeze, and only after he had passed the finish did he discover that his contender was riderless. Coltiletti sustained a wrench of his ankle and canceled the remainder of his engagements. The I boy will be given a long rest, as the incidents in which he has figured in the last few days has seemingly unstrung him. Oood tilings galore were uncovered during the afternoon with Kdith K., the one that jolted the layers hardest; Neenah, on which Coltiletti had the mount in this, was the favored one. but she was practically left at the barrier, while Miss larnell and Editli K. were among the favoried ones at tlie start. Both indulged in a spirited stretch duel, Edith K. winning by a nose. SPEEDY SPRINTERS IN FIFTH RACE. The fiftli race, a dash of three-quarters of a mile, brought some speedy sprinters to the post. John Ijiwes Bon Tromp is in excellent form and ruled the favorite, but there was plentiful support for Enmity and Ticklish. Bon Tromp set a fast pace and won all the way, but Pat Dunnes Harry Burgoyne came out good and fit after a long rest, made it interesting for Bon Tromp all the way and was only beaten by ii scant length. Enmity ran a good race and finished third, but at the rate the race was run Ticklish found his 120 pounds too much for him and fell back beaten after racing wpII for a half mile. Emma .1., supported with confidence in the opening race, succeeded in winning by a close margin, due to Rutwells suiHrior finish over Yeargin on Virginia dOr. General caused an upset in the second race when he won in a canter from Scarpia II. ami Arch Plotter. The patched up Dr. Shafer found a band bad enough that lie could win from and accounted for t lie sixth race from Audrey K. The final race found Comme Ci the favorite, but his inconsistency was again on display and he succumbed to Brotiier Maclean, which led for the entire way. Comme Ci was claimed for ,000 by W. D. Bernhardt, a local man, represented in the rnce by Astraea. Starter A. B.
