! ; I 1 i . , I . ; YEARLING SALES AT SARATOGA DETAILS OF THE DISPOSALS OF HIGH-BRED YOUNGSTERS IN THE COURSE OF THE SECOND DAY OF SELLING SARATOGA, N. Y., August 5. Owners and breeders had a correct guide to the yearling market of this year, when the Beaumont stud youngsters, owned by Messrs. Headley and Miller and the Huntingdon Valley Farm, went under the hammer at the Fasig-Tipton mart Thursday night. There were thirty-four in the consignment, sired by Trap Rock, Jack Atkin Uncle and Ultimus. The entire collection realized 8,500, or a grand average of ,603. The star of the sale was the rugged looking colt by Ultimus Xarco half brother to Motor Cop, which provoked a spirited bidding tilt, ultimately going to Commander J K L LW Stable on H. G. Bedwells bid of 10,000. He was the joint property of Headhy and Miller and helped to swell the total of the fourteen consigned by them to 334,750, or an average of ,467. The nine colts individually owned by W. B. Miller realized 9,100, an average of ,122, the Uncle Brommleaf colt being the star of the band, and went to J. C. Milam on his bid of ,700. The seven individually owned youngsters consigned by Hal Price Headley Jr brought a total of 5,650, an average of ,236. The highest priced one in this consignment v.-as the Uncle Ballymena colt, which J. C. Milam obtained for ,300. The four youngsters consigned by the Huntingdon Valley Farm, all sired by Ultimus, real-ized the handsome sum of 9,000, their average being ,750, with the Uncle Grand Prize filly bringing ,000 and carrying off honors in the filly division of the sale. The bidding was steady, the spectacular action of last year, when bids were advanced, in some instances, ,000 at a time was absent in most cases. The youngsters were started Thursday night at a low figure and advanced to the prices obtained by solid bids.
