ATTRACTIONS OF DELAWARE Present-Day Popularity Due to Record-Breaking Performance in It in 1918 and 1919 This Years Eligibles. Wliile the majority of the Saratoga stake features attract attention to them because of their historical associations and great monetary values, not so with the Delaware Handicap. Its present day popularity is principally due to the fast time recorded during its running in the last two years. It was in the Delaware in 1!18 that Sun Briar established a new American record for one mile and in the same race the following year Fairy Wand equaled that record. Speed in man, beast or things mechanical is more than ever the craze, and although the record of Sun Briar and Fairy Wand was lowered by Man o War last spring, those who gather at Saratoga on Tuesday; August 10, will do so expect Jng to see the champion mark wiped out. While Mr. Riddles great colt is not eligible to the Dela- ware there arc any number of high-class horses of both sexes able to travel fast, as n glance at the following list of remaining candidates will reveal: Delaware Handicap, ,000 added. For three-year-olds and over. By subscription" of 5 each. Starters to pay 0 additional; -with ,000 added.
