GREAT .GULL, outrun for the lirst half mile, closed up steadily under hard , pressure and was gaining in the closing strides. FRANK WATERS raced prominently, but tired in the stretch. MINATA followed the leaders under restraint in the early running, then took the lead at liis riders leisure , and won easing up. MlDAS II. was saved for the lirst time around and moved up rapidly at the eleventh jump, but almost fell, then recovered quickly and was rushed into the lead, but could not withstand the winners! challenge. ISYRDARYA was much used in racing SURF into defeat and. tiring, almost fell at the thirteenth jump. VJGILANTE was never p.roninent. SURF fell at the fifteenth fence. A QOOi THIRD RACE 5 1-2 Furlongs. THORNHEDGE closed up steadily and finished fast, but could not overhaul ".the winner. TOREADOR began slowly, but secured a clear .course on the inside and closed a big gap. RQLO set a good pace, but tired iu the stretch. LOVELINESS moved mi in the stretch, but tired near the end. GENERAL AVERAGE was shulHed back at the start and closed a big gap. NATURALIST set a fast pace for the going and made a game finish, but could not withstand the winners challenge. ROYCE ROOLS was always outpaced. The latter showed speed, but tired badly in the last eighth. The. last four were not persevered with through the homestreteli.
