NAME WINGFIELD YEARLINGS Band Comprises Nineteen Head, Majority of Which Are by the Fast English Horse Atheling. BY F. L. McKENXEY. SAN FRANCISCO, Cal., August 17. Nineteen highly bred yearlings are being broken at the Nevada Stock Farm, owned by George Wingfield, and soon will be given gallops at a nearby race course. All of the youngsters have grown and filled out remarkably since being shipped back to the Reno stud establishment last spring from Sacramento, where they were wintered. Every one has enjoyed the best of health in the high altitude of the Sierra Nevada region and all promise to be of the nnst rugged sort. In the number are thirteen sons and daughters of Atheling. the 1 andsome son of Desmond and Cyllene, mare Wood Daisy, that Mr. Wingfield imported some years ago, five of the progeny of the well-known stallion Iloneywood, by lolymelus Honey Bird, by Friars Balsam, and a filly by the Domino horse Disguise. The "pick of the basket," judging from the conformation, manners and general behavior in the training inclosure, is a beautiful brown filly by Atheling Orsini, mare Rose-lawn. This aristocratic miss is a half sister to the speedy Westwood. A bay filly by Iloneywood Ina L., by Otis or Sain, is also a well turned youngster. Among the colts a strapping bay by Atheling Thistle Belle, by Knight of the. Thistle, is attracting much attention by reason of his fine lines. Mr. Wingfield is a believer in selecting names early for his thoroughbreds and has covered a wide range is chosing the following designations for the young thoroughbreds: Ambush, bay filly, by Atheling Celesta, by Scm-pronius.
