BABY GRAND VICTORIOUS Shows Return to Early Form in Winning Belie Meade Plate. Followers of Whitney Colors Lose on Moody, but Retrieve on Dr. Clark. WINDSOR, Ont., August 23. Baby Grand, the J. K. L. Ross Granite Babe two-year-old, showed a return to his early summer form this afternoon, winning as his rider pleased from a fast and large band of" juveniles in the Hello Meade Plate at three-quarters of a mile with ,000 added. Poly-tliiu finished second, John S. Iteardon third and Madeline Lillian fourth. The winner opened up a commanding lead in the first half mile and maintained it throughout to win by five lengths. Poly-tliia, although tiring, preceded the fast coming John S. Iteardon a length and a half to the finishing line and Madeline Lillian just a neck back finished with a rush after being away slowly and outrun to the stretch turn. The presence in the race of Moody, from the Whitney stable, brought fortli a flood of public money in that direction and Baby Grand, because of the poor form he had displayed just previous to his recent rest, was overlooked in the betting. The favorite was shuffled back at the start and never assumed a prominent position in the running of the race. The value of the event to the winner was ,500 in addition to a piece of silver presented by W. O. Parmer, secretary of the Windsor Jockey Club. My Dear finished fast to take second place from the tiring Wynnewood. Roy Gordon has taken over the book of jockey J. Heupel. Jockey P. Lux has severed his connection with A. C. Nlehaus and will ride as a free lance in future. J. K. It. Ross crack pair of racers Sir Barton and Boniface will be shipped back to Saratoga tonight. Willis Sharpc Kilmers Exterminator, winner of the- Windsor Jockey Club Handicap on Saturday, will remain "ver until the end of the week to fill another stake engagement here. Trainer S. Healy lias nominated Exterminator for the Toronto Autumn Cup at a mile and a quarter and the Ontario Jockey Club Handicap at two miles and a quarter, both races to be run at the next Woodbine meeting. Frank J. Bruen, general manager of Oriental Park, is an arrival from Saratoga. R. P. Marshall of Pittsburgh, owner of the Keystone stable, is here and will remain until the end of the Devonshire meeting. Colonel R. L. Baker and John McLaughlin are among the visitors from Kentucky. Clarence Buxton arrived last night from Saratoga with twelve head of horses. Included in the shipment were Bud Fishers Vice-Chairman and Johnny Dundees War Mask. Others of the Coburn-Buxton string are Dayduc, Waters, Alcatraz, Ballynew, Claquer, Bon Tromp, Walk Up, Sunny-land. Hope Princess and Celtic Lass. Jockey M. Buxton accompanied the stable. Frank Lyman is a recent arrival from Fort Erie with Beachwood Jim and Drummoud Hill, the property of J. Rysdale. The Brookdale stable has been shipped by trainer George Walker from Fort Erie to Ottawa.
