CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The final time of the second race Saturday at Saratoga should read 4:22and. Oaklawn Belle, making her first start in five yours, graduated from the ranks of the maidens when she won a race at Mount Royal Park Saturday. X. X. Lawand, a Montreal racing enthusiast, has purchased at private sale from W. II. Fry Barrys Pet. H. G. Woods will handle this plater in the future. The Luke McLuke filly Miss Muffins startled work watchers at Saratoga Sunday by galloping three-eighths of a mile in the exceptionally fast time of 33. Dr. P. J. Sullivan has turned over his horse, previously trained by the late Harry Shannon, to Harold Baines. Baincs had been with Shannon for the past five years. A thirteen-day race meeting is announced to be held at Chagrin Falls, Cleveland, Ohio, beginning September 18 and continuing to October 2. The program calls for seven races daily with the pari-mutuel system of wagering as the means of speculation. Several stables will ship from Montreal to the West Virginia State Fair at Wheeling, September G to 11, where the pari-mutuels will be introduced for the first time. Blair Mock will take seven head, Charles Koerner four and W. J. Lau-clien four. Stake entries for the Ontario Jockey Club fall meeting at Woodbine Park will close August 25. The meeting opens September 25 and continues until October 2. The club will hang up 11,500 added money in stakes and purses during the seven days of racing. J. MeBride, one of starter Tribes assistants at Mount Royal Park, had a narrow escape from serious injury when he was knocked down by Wil-lowbrook in front of the field as the start came for the second race Saturday. He escaped with bruises and a shaking up. Jockeys Hlleman and Osmer were suspended for two days by the judges of the Marlboro, Md., fair i meeting. They were charged with not trying to beat Thistle Queen, the odds-nn favorite, riddeu by Jockey Connors in a race run Saturday. A member of the Maryland State Racing Commission, who saw the actions of the two jockeys, will recommend that they both be burred from riding on all Maryland tracks.
