LAUREL TO HELP IN A GOOD CAUSE BY J. L. DEMPSEY. SARATOGA, N. Y., August 23. Announcement was made today that the Laurel track management will make every effort during its coming raoe meeting to assist the American Remount Association in its quest to secure suitable stallions for breeding purposes, and with this in view has framed the following race to serve as a measure that might result in securing eventually the full quota of stallions desired by the American National Remount Association: "For colts and entire horses, three-year-olds and over, that have been approved as suitable for stallions by the American Remount Association and the authorized representatives of the Maryland State Fair, Incorporated, and hold certificates as so approved. Plirse of ,500, of which 00 to second and 00 to the third. Weights, three-year-olds to carry 110 pounds; four-year-olds and over to carry 115 pounds. One mile. "Entries in this race are made with, the understanding and agreement that the winner can he purchased within twenty-four hours after the running of the race by the American Remount Association or its representative for 25, the maximum amount allowod by the war department for the purchase of horses. "This purchase, is to be made with . the understanding that horses so obtained shall not be raced, but shall be at once delivered to the representative of the United States remount department, to be assigned to one of the United States remount breeding depots. "This race is framed for the purpose, of aiding the War Department in the efforts being made to increase the production of horses suitable for cavalry purposes. "Entries will close five days before the day set for the running of the race. Horses so entered will be inspected by the authorized representatives tf tiie American Remount Association, and those approved will receive a certificate of such approval, which will entitle them to start in any remount race tendered at this or any other meeting of The Jockey Club, or any other association offering a similar race in 1920." Starters must be named through the entry box at the regular hour of closing the day before the nice.
