SARATOGAS GREATEST MEETING ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS FOR ATTENDANCE, MONETARY DISTRIBUTION AND EVEN CHARACTER OF RACING SHATTERED GRAND TOTAL OF 58,240 DISTRIBUTED AMONG HORSEMEN, THE LIONS SHARE FALLING TO H. P. WHITNEY Each succeeding year sees Saratoga, the Ascot of America, grow in popular favor; each succeeding year sees the wonderful racing of the preceding year surpassed by even more wonderful racing. The year 1920 was no exception and the meeting just concluded is now hailed as the greatest in the long history of the Saratoga Racing Association. Certain it is all previous records for monetary returns were broken when the immense sum of 58,210, a daily average of 3,778, was distributed in stakes and purses during the twenty-six days of racing. With the incomparable Man o War, the great Sir Barton and the gallant Exterminator, not to say .anything of the host of other grand horses, including a wonderful army of two-year-olds, striving for the rich prizes, it is not surprising that the racing was of the highest standard, in some instances the greatest that was ever seen in this country- Nor is it surprising that with such grand sport all previous attendance records were shattered. The lions share of the prizes fell to eastern turfmen, the powerful establishments of II. P. Whitney, J. K. L. Boss, S. D. Kiddle, It. T. Wilson, W. It. Coe tihd like proving too formidable for those from the West. II. P. Whitney was the largest winner of the meeting, both in respect to the number of races and money won, his horses finishing first in eleven races and adding hB14,842 to his already imposing total for the year. Besides Mr. Whitney seven other owners won more than 0,000 each J. W. McClelland, 8.11S; Glen Kiddle Stable, 3,818; J. K. L. Boss. 2,321; W. R. Coc, 5,251; S. Ross, 2,fi23; It. V.
