STAR IRISH JOCKEY IN ENGLAND R. Gore, the Findon trainer, has engaged the successful Irish jockey Joseph Canty to ride for Iiis stable during the winter in England. After a period of much success as a flat-race jockey. Canty turned his attention to jumping, and proved himself as skilled a rider under the I. N. H. S. rules as he had done under the Rules of Racing. He served his apprenticeship with Michael Dawson, at Kathbride Manor. Curragh, and early in his career became one of the lightweight jockeys, and when his indentures had expired he went on to score many important successes on the flat. He still rides under the Rules of Racing, but increased weight limits the number of mounts he is able to accept under that code. At Phoenix Park he won the Three-Year-Old Sweepstakes on Mr. Lowrys Wily Attorney, and he. will, it is expected, have a mount on the son of Tredennis in the Irish St. Legec at the Curran next month.
