CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF At Newmarket, September 28. King Georges two-year-olds gelding Torment, by Torloisk Flame FloWer, won the ,000 October Nursery Handicap at five-eighths of a mile in a big field and at 10 to 1 in the betting. It was tlie first race won by the; royal stable this;, year. Tlipburh, and not. Herbert Jones, rode Torment. Mr. Goculdas. the owner of the winner of the English St. Leger, expects to have Caligula, by The Tetrarch Snoot, in India to race at the second meeting in Calcutta, but, if fit on arrival in Bombay, he will race there at1 the end of- the year. After a year in India the horse will return to England to serve at the stud. A syndicate of Italian sportsmen, has given a commission to the Irish Bloodstock Agency to purchase and ship to Italy a consignment of twenty Irish-bred fillies. The first draft comprises a filly by Irishman Coy Maiden, a filly by Flying Orb-Dainty, a filly by Sunningdale Solitude, and Voiture, "2, by Louvois Hack Car. London Sportsman.
