WINTRY BLASTS AT EMPIRE Cold Weather Keeps Attendance Down-Recount Victorious in Eclipse Handicap. Todays card was brightened by one race, the Eclipse Handicap, while the others brought out horses of no more than mediocre caliber. In the feature race. Recount, stanchly backed, showed a superior mud-runniug-effort and defeated a -baud of high-class racers when he tcok into camp War Mask, Sweep Clean, Tom McTaggart, War Note and others in easy fashion. War Note, for which there was considerable backing, essayed to make the pace. The Spanish Prince colt opened, up a lead of three lengths in the first half and appeared to be going easily. Rounding the turn out of the straightnway. Recount and War Mask both moved up quickly and Soon War Note was in third place.
