ON WATCHS BRILLIANT RACE Scores Sensational Victory in Pimlico Autumn Handicap, Establishing New Track Record. BALTIMORE, Md.. November 4. G. W. Lofts On Watch, carrying top weight of 123 pounds, this afternoon won the Pimlico Autumn Handicap under a splendid ride by Earl Sande. On Watch ran the mile and a quarter in 2:04, establishing a new track record for the distance and defeating R. T. Wilsons Yellow Hand by a neck, witli H. P. Whitneys Damask in third place. Todays race was a brilliant contest. Starting from second and third post positions respectively. Dr. Clark and Blazes went out to make the early pace, the latter holding a neck advantage throughout the half mile and seemingly under more restraint than the Parr color-bearer. Turning into the backstretch On Watch moved up into closer pursuit of the pacemaker and when Blazes tired at the half mile post Sande brought him nround oh the outside and passed the Whitney colt.. On the far turn Ensor moved up witli Yellow Hand into a strong contending position just outside the two leaders and at that stage appeared quite dangerous. Straightening out for the run home. Dr. Clark responded to Rummers bidding witli rare courage, but had been made too much use of in racing Blazes into defeat, with the result that he fell back while On Watch and Yellow Hand went on with undiminished speed to battle for the prze. A sixteenth of n mile from the finish Yellow Hand still, appeared to have the needed reserve, but he tired as Ensor went to the whip and Sande, hand riding, crossed the finisli line with his third consecutive winner of the afternoon. The former premier rider of the J. K. L. Ross establishment started off his good day in the opening dash, when he scored with A. H. Morris Fallacy, the Light Brigade filly getting up in the last stride to beat W. J. Salmons Superwoman, which closed witli the most speed. Aitiackassin was Sandes mount in the third, which brought out a large field of cheap platers, for the three-quarters dash. "He hustled" the J. J4., Griff UK. .color -bearvp- away, -K-aJted bandhiiid the pacemaker, May W., and -won easily 4y a iengtli and a half from Tarascon with the tiring May W. in third position.
