BROWN PRINCE AT BEAUMONT FARM1 LEXINGTON, Ky., November 4. Brown Prince, brother to Ambassador sire of Constancy, re-, eently purchased in England from Donald Fraser, Tickford Park Stud, by Messrs. Hal Price Headiey, William B. Miller and Frederick Johnson, is now occupying the box next to "that of Ultimus at Beaumont Farm, a mile and a half south of Lexington and approximately twenty miles from his brothers abiding place at Arthur B. Hancocks Claiborne Stud in Bourbon County. Brown Prince, son of Dark Ronald Excellenza. a winner and the dam of eight winners of twenty-three races producing 5,000 in first money, by Haut Brion, son of St. Simon Gulbeyaz, by Bend Or, was foaled in 1914 and is a handsome horse. He is dark brown, nearly black, witli both hind ankles and left fore ankle white. He has also a star in his broad forehead. His eyes are full and-well set in a head that is shapely and indicative of a good character. In a word, he is symetrically made and of the type best liked in Kentucky for the stock horse that he is. We did not have the standard on him, but judgment is that he is above 16 hands. He has a good neck, excellent shoulders, large barrel, good flanks, broad and powerful hips, all on good straight legs with an abundance of bone and feet that are free from blemish or defect of any kind. The groom says his disposition is good. In a word, the owners and farm folks are highly elated with him and he is . to have a complement of j worthy mares for his first season in America and . his third at the stud. His first season was in 1919, so that his first progeny are weanlings. It will be a part of the , mission of Mr. Headiey, who now is in England, to see these youngsters and as many of their dams as possible that he may be the better able to judge the type of mares that are to go to him in -1921 J and to have some conception of what he is likely to sire from those mares. I As stallion compatriots at Beaumont next year Brown Prince will have, in addition to Ultimus, Uncle, Rapid Water, Huon and George Smith. Horse health at Beaumont, us it is generally iu the blue grass region, this year is excellent. The nights having become frosty, brood marcs and weanlings are all put under shelter and permitted to range the pastures only during the hours of good daylight.
