TIJUANA RACING CERTAIN J. W. Coffroth Wires That Meeting Will Positively Begin on Thanksgiving Day. There is some competition over horses for the three winter race meetings to begin Thanksgiving Day, although there are plenty of horses for all. Stories are in circulation about Tijuana not opening that day. These tales are mere propaganda; not true and not reliably circulated. The Tijuana meeting will begin as scheduled. There are already between 400 and 500 horses at Tijuana or on their way there. Nine of the Tijuana stakes close Friday, November 2G. These stakes are: San Francisco Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one mile and seventy yards; 2,5Q0 added. Mexieall Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one mile and seventy yards.; 2,500 added. Tijuana Business Mens Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one mile and a -sixteenth; ,500 added. Far West Handicap, three-year-olds and over, three-quarters of a mile; 2,000 added. San Ysidro Claiming .Stakes, three-year-olds and over, one mile and a sixteenth; 1,500 added. Juvenile Stakes, two-year-olds, half mile; 1,500 added. Oakland Claiming Stakes, three-year-olds and over, three-quarters of a mile; 1,500 added. Riverside Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one mile; ,500 added. Speed Handicap, three-year-olds and over, five and a half furlongs; 1,500 added. The eight other and more valuable stakes of the meeting will close December 11 and are as follows: Coffroth Handicap, three -year-olds and over, one and a quarter miles; 20,000 added. U. S. Grant Hotel Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one and an eighth miles; 10,000 added. Baja California Handicap, three-year-olds and over, one ami a sixteenth miles; 10,000 added. Los Angeles Highweight Handicap, three-year-olds and over, three-quarters mile; 2,500 added Francis Nelson of Toronto will preside over the racing at Tijuana. He will choose his own assistants and direct the sport of the meeting in a general way. There is no more competent man in racing today than he. Manager J. W. Coffroth wired Daily Racing Form last night as follows: "I have received word that some one is circulating a report that the meeting here may not open Thanksgiving Day. I wish you would give publicity to the fact that 500 horses are at the track and that the meeting will positively open ns scheduled under my management. From all Indications it should be the biggest meeting ever held in California."
