RAIN AND MUD AT BOWIE . - Only Regulars Brave Inclement Weather to See Racing. - Many Withdrawals and Surprises Nightstick Gives Backers a Scare. . BOWIE, M1., November 10. Most unfavorable weather and track conditions prevailed at the Howie track today. However, the faithful turned out in goodly numbers to witness racing run in constant rain aijd a track fetlock deep in mud, necessitating muny withdrawals. The urogram was an ordinary one, with the fourth race the most prominent. The poor start, however,, in which Ballet Dancer II. was as good as left, and the running out of Gcrma in the first quarter robbed the race of much interest, it resulting in u proeeRston throughout, with F. Musantcs My Dear winning in a canter from Kubidium, which labored in the going. Ballet Dancer II. went after bis opponents and, due to Elected II. tiring and Genua running to thtj outside fence, had no difficulty in getting third money. 1. T. Chinns Nightstick, favorite for the third race, gave his backers a scare when he was1 seen to tire in the last hundred yards and just lasted to get the decision from Summer Sigh by. three-qunrters of a length. The latter came from the rear with a strong rush and was going fastest at the cud, while. Tingling suffered from a slow start, but made up ground into a fast going third. Rustler, the favorite, was away slowly "and always outpaced. Another close finish came in the second race when J. W. McClellands Light Rose came from behind the pacemakers at the head of the stretch and drew clear to win by a neck in the final strides. Blue Belle displayed good speed and hung on gamely, though tiring In the deep going. Polythia ran well, but found llfi pounds a trifle too much under the changed track conditions. She, however, gamely Outlasted Lady Granite for third place. Who Cares found the going" to his liking and led all the way in the fifth race, but was forced to dp bis best to outlast Sam Louis rocatcllo. The sixth race was Hello Fardners all the way, with American Boy second, after closing an immense gap Mountain Hose II. and Courlis were almost equal f favorites in the closing dash, vMiich was won by the former after a meritorious performance. He was outpaced in the early running, but worked his way up on the outside and overtaking the leaders entering the stretch, drew away to a safe lead in the, last eighth. Jockey C. H. Millers engagements are being made by W. P. Rico. W. Doyle, who officiated as -patrol judge on the metropolitan tracks, lias entered the matrimonial fiejdj bis bride, being one of Baltimores fairest daughters. The following horses have been put in the schooling list by starter Tribe: Napoli, Little Ed, East View, Old Sinner, Foreclosure and King John. Hello Pardiier was claimed by X. L. Siiclson and Tan Son by G. H. Goodacre.
