NEWCOMER" IN CALIFORNIA RACING BY F. L. McKENNEY. SAN FRANCISCO, Cal., November 27. F. R.Doyle, a business man of Woodland, Yolo County, has sent four young thoroughbreds to Pleusanton, to put them into condition for racing at Tijuana. Mr. Doyle is a newcomer in the sport and shows a keen Interest in both breeding and racing. Up on his farm near Woodland he has the stallion Multnomah and some well-bred mares as the nucleus of a stud establishment. Multnomah is seven years old, by the well known Bearcateher Marcie A. Bearcatchers fame so far rests principally upon the achievements of his daughters in the paddock, such as Irish Queen, dam of the fleet SenS", nings Park, but there seems to be no, reason why Ids sons should not do something worth while, too. Multnomah had quite a reputation hereabouts as a race horse, Is built on handsome lines, ns was his sire, and promises to impart plenty of speed to his progeny. Bearca tcher, a son of St. George Sallie McAllister, was the best sprinter in California for a number of years, defeating E. J. Baldwins Cruza-dos and all the other speed marvels. His easy victory in a match race over Cmzados, which was by Emperor of Norfolk Atalanta II., was achieved in a race run at the Ingieside course. Sail Francisco. I When taken East by his owner, Garnett Ferguson, now a business man of San Francisco, Bearcatcher had the misfortune to "hook up" with the wonderful filly Artful and had his colors lowered. Otherwise, he demonstrated he could run successfully in good company. The "pride of the stable" of the youngsters shipped from the Doyle farm to Pleasanton, according to Pedro- Enos, the veteran rider, who Is training the horses, is a three -year-old black filly, by the Star Shoot horse Enfield Comet. Two of the others are by Enfield, both colts, one from Rose 1 May, and the -other from Sally Sensible. The Rose May colt has been named Lee Enfield and the Sally. Sensible colt Bunker Bean.
