THIRTY LEADING AMERICANO WNERS In the accounts of money won in the campaign of 1920 by the thirty leading stables of the year there is one peculiar and seldom occurring feature. It is that, with two exceptions, every one of the tiiirty stables shows an increase in money won in comparison with their returns of 1919. Samuel C. Hildreth and Joseph E. Widener furnish the exceptions. Still they did not fare badly and both have known much worse years in respect to money won by their horses. Another outstanding feature is that four owners have stable returns in excess of 00,000, something that probably has only once occurred in American racing. Certainly never before did two rival stables win in excess of a quarter of a million dollars, as did those of H. P. Whitney and J. IC. L. Ross. It is reflective of the vastly increased aggregate of money raced for in 1920 that the four leading stables gathered the huge sum of 22,069. The following list of our thirty leading winning owners is not complete for the year, for the reason that a number still have horses in racing and will make additions to their accounts in December.
