I . J i 1 1 j : 1 1 I i . I ; i I J i GOOD SPORT AT HAVANA Interesting Racing at Oriental Park Entertains Large Crowd. Belle of Elizabethtown Takes Main Race in Past Time Close Finishes the Eule. HAVANA, Cuba, December 10. Racing at Oriental Park this afternoon showed that the track is nearing its liest and should be fast as ever in a day or so. Another crowd of goodly proportions was present and, witnessed some good sport. The main attraction from a racing standpoint was the fifth race and Belle of Elizabethtown triumphed here, leading all the way and scoring in fast time, although hard pressed by the favorite, American Ace., Durella, carrying the colors of J. C. Eaton and ridden by J. Cnrmody, proved best of the ten that made up the field in the first race. She was waited with until entering the stretch and, finish-fast on the inside, passed the pacemaker in the last eighth and drew clear in the last few strides. Stiletto ran a good race to finish a bang-up second after closing an immense gap from a slow beginning. Even with J. Butwells, assistance the erratic Sinri Feiner could not hold on to second place after appealing to have a good chance to win at the half-mile post. Get Em lived up to his name in the second race, getting the jump on his opponents at the start and setting them a merry pace throughout. But-well was easing him up, jattne. end.. . Winalktiras Sccofid and Tige third. A great finished marked the running of the third race. Less than a half length separated the first three horses, Juanita III., Incinerator and Miss Sweep finishing in the order named and the result in doubt until the judges announced their placing. Mose Goldblatts Legotal was. a hot favorite iu this race, but lie appeared sore going to. the. post and tired near the end. i Mumbo Jumbo and Discussion engaged in a hard fought duel in the fourth race, claiming handicap i for all ages, the former winning in the last strides. ; ; Discussion appeared a trifle short or the verdict j might have been reversed. j Whatever chance Black Thong may have had in the sixth race went glimmering when he was shut off on the first turn. The winner turned np in Doublet II., with Timothy J. Hognn second and Blazonry third. John W. Pangel sold Light Fantastic to A. B. Worley for a private consideration. Owing to the unruly tactics at the pest the stewards ordered Libert Bond placed on the outside J of the others in the fourth race Friday afternoon, when he is carded to start, i J. Simmons, a Canadian youth from Montreal, I started his jockey career when he had a mount on Jack Dawson. He is under contract to George Sheiman. I N. J.
