HANDICAPPER N. S. HAND IS DEAD Nin S. Hand is dead, his death taking place in liis San Francisco home December 4. He was 58 years of age, having been born in 1802 at Bloom -ington, Irid. His name is known to all who .attempt locating the elusive winner by the modem use of figure handicapping, for in that matter he was a recognized authority and the author of several works pertaining to the art. In his early days he was an intimate of "Pittsburg Phil" and was a familiar figure on Chicago and St. Louis tracks when racing flourished in the two cities. For the last twelve years he had resided with his wife at 245 Buchanan street, San Francisco, and from there had published several books of poenis. .
