1 I i 1 ; i i . 1 1 : 1 EXPERT ON TIJUANA HORSES I George Berrys View of Animals Racing at Far Western Track. 1!Y F. L. McKKXXEY. SAX FKAXCISCO. Cal., December IT.. An expert estimate of the capability of the horses at Tijuana is contained in a letter written by George W. Berry, who is training a string for two wealthy oil men at th Lower California track. I.erry was superintendent of A. 1J. Sprcckcls Xapa Stock Farm for many years and later was with George Wing- field. His long experience has fitted him admirably to pass judgment on racing material. 1 "Of the mature division." lie writes. "I should I say I.e Frank is by far the best, with Thunder- I storm. Peace Pennant and Xopperhan next in order. Of the three-year-olds, on form. Ddwinu seems the best, with Boom-viUe, 1 should judge, about next best. Ikey T. is far and away the best of the two-year-olds: in fact, in a class by himself, and. barring accident, should have little trouble winning the local Derby next year. "Of the selling platers 1 should judge Cover lp. a daughter of Disguise and Costume, and therefore an inbred Domino, to be the best. She is a 1 m;i u t i f n 1 individual and should race in better company. 1 should judge there are approximately fifty yearlings on hand. O. A. Itiaiichi has five or six. the progeny of Jim Gaffney: W. C. Weam has a half dozen, mostly by Hoots and Saddle anil Moss Fox: George Van Gorden. five; Van Dusen, seven; I.en Jones, eight, the progeny of llnrrigaii. "A beautiful filly by Atheling, dam Leona, by Woolsthorpe, is in the stable of I-:. A. Stokes, a callable and painstaking trainer. "Our Disguise Las Flores colt is far and away the best-looking yearling in training and has shown best in his work. The lloneywood Decency colt is developing beautifully. "All or these colts are being schooled regularly daily at the barrier, "The feature of the meeting is the starting of Harry Morrissey. which is absolutely perfect. A man can send his. horse to the lmst and rest assured he is going to have . .sigjiuHn; deal. How he Iwiidles tticse ifuifJfIeInVi"":aiHi gt tfcein away as one horse I do not know. "Taking everything into consideration the meeting so far has been a big success. The fake reformers got a sad jolt when the anti-form chart law was snowed under by a vote of the people of San Diego. Looks like the worm was turning."
