BLACK TOP set a fast early pace and made a game finish. WHIPPET met with interference and was outrun down the backstretch, but finished fast in close quarters next to the inside rail. POLAR CUB set the early pace and, after being passed, came again in the. stretch, and finished, with a rush to win going away. AVION was fractions while going to the post and made an extremely wide turn when entering the stretch and just lasted long enough to outstay HOCNIR. ASSUMPTION ran a good race from the start and might have won but for the interference. PENELOPE ran a good race and finished fast. POMERENE tired after setting a fast early pace.
