January 14. — A plan to amend the constitution of The Jockey Club, increasing tbe number of stewards tiorn srveu to nine, was pro- gonad yesterday by August Belmont at the annual meeting of the club. The amendment is designed to give the governing body of racing in the Kast a wider -cope. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in the re-election of Mr. Bs*msnl as chairman. F. K. Sturgis vice-chairman and II. K. Kuapp secretary and treasurer.
