MISS JEMIMA NOW IN FORM Shows Extreme Speed and Runs Away from High Cost Brookholt Wins Mile in Canter Bet Mosie First and Gaining Esteem as a Good Colt LATONIA Ky June 22 Miss Jemima the speedy Black Toney Vnila filly which disputed with Distinction for supremacy as queen of the western fillies two years ago showed her oldtime form this afternoon and turned in a fast run three quarters victory in the principal race a 2000 handicap High Cost was closest to her at the finish but five lengths off and Uncle Velo just got up to outstay Darjeeling for third place High Cost was an outstanding favorite in the race and showed the most early speed but Miss Jemima was always close up Lyke not freeing her from restraint until settled fully for the stretch rush where she shot by High Cost like a flash and won with the utmost ease High Cost tired badly in the last eighth but his early advantage precluded the pos ¬ sibility of being overtaken for second place al ¬ though Uncle Velo came with a great rush in the last eighth He continued on and worked ou a mile and an eighth in preparation for his start next Saturday in the Ten Broeck Handicap HandicapMontfort Montfort Jones Brookholt figured in a winning performance in the fifth race a mile dash that brought to the post five highly regarded ones but not so highly as Brookholt which ruled a sur ¬ prisingly shortpriced favorite He won as the odds indicated he should even in spite of a blundering ride that Garner gave him for the first halfmile Tlie last half of the mile race found Brookholt striding freely and once in command on the stretch turn lie had no difficulty in winning as his rider pleased with Minute Man Just getting up to out ¬ stay the badly tiring Dancing Spray for second place Sands of Pleasure was considered a
