H P WHITNEY AGAIN LEADING OWNER NEW YORK N Y June 25 There is food for thought for the sentimentalists in the circumstances of H P Whitneys rise to the top of the list of money winners on the American turf for this year iu the face of difficulties largely through earn ¬ ing cf 43000 by Broomspuu in the Preakntss Mr Whitney last years leading money winner lay within striking distance of the leadership of this financial race although his other horses were not at their best Then Broomspun was destroyed after breaking down in the Carltou Stakes last week but his younger brother Broomster stepped into the breach and by winning the Great American today brought the Whitney total about that of the Rancocas Stable StableBroomster Broomster was not the only famous brother com ¬ peting in the 1921 renewal of the Great American Toil which finished second to him is a son of Celt Workmaid and therefore a brother to Dun ¬ boyne which won the stake for P A Clark three years ago and Sunreigh the fourth horse is a brother to Sun Briar which won the stake in 1917 Sunreigh is by Sundridge Sweet Briar II
