PERIOSTEUMS WORLDS RECORD The worlds racing lecord for two and a half miles was re-created at the recent Ascot meeting in England when B. Irishs bay horse. Periosteum, by Badiuin lersicaria. by Persimmon, won the Ascot Gold Cup from Happy Man and Spion Kop in 4:22, under 120 pounds. The American record tor two and a half miles is an old one, Kyrats 4:24, 8S pounds, made at Newport, Ky., in 1899. The English lecord which Periosteum displaced was Prince Palatines 4:22vj, made also at Ascot eight years ago under 130 pounds.
