RUMOR OF INDIANA RACE TRACK A race track and polo grounds will he built in Indiana, two miles west of Hammond, according to a report of yesterday, when a deal for the land was closed. A 2,000000 plant is projected. C. H. Frederich, former sheriff of Lake County, acted as agent for the eighty-acre site. Much secrecy surrounds the transaction. The tract is on 147 street, just . west of Torrence avenue, where the Michigan Central and Illinois Central and two belt railroads could furnish suburban service. The owner of the land was Mrs. I. Diniond of Omaha, Neb., and it brought 2,000 an acre.
