FINE WEATHER AT MONTREAL Brings Out Largest Crowd of Week Cacambo Wins Imperial Purse in Close Finish. MONTKKAL. Que., .Inly 23. After being outrun by Musito to the stretch. Cacambo closed up steadily and beat the former by a neck to win the Imperial Purse, the fifth and feature attraction at Majsonneuve Park this afternoon. Old Pop scored his fifth race of the local season, when he easily annexed the initial dash for homebred horses. Favorable weather aud track conditions prevailed for the first time during the meeting and the balf-holiday crowd swelled the attendance to over 5,000, the largest of the week. After investigation jockey R. Pauley was exonerated from blame of Frenchy swerving in front of bis onjtoncnts in the first race yesterday and his suspension consequently was lifted. H. A. Kkcrsc has donated Jim Thorpe to the Canadian National Bureau of Hreeding. George Magce has departed for Toronto with Thomas F. McMahon and John Lake. Mormon bowed a tendon in his last race here and will be out of commission for some time. The stable of P. M. Moore, including Rainbow Girl, Sabretash. Miss Kruter and Fait Accompli, has been shipped to Apollo. Ia. Fail Accompli was purchased from Harry Herdel just previous to the departure of the string. If. Herdel has left for Tinionoum, Md., with the remaining members of his stable, Koran, Hlondel, Superior and Director James. Word reached here today from Quebec City that jockey A. Casey has recovered from a recent attack of lockjaw, which followed an operation when he had his left leg amputated. Jockey N. Collins, who had all the ligaments of his left foot severed during a raee at the Quebec meeting, is now ublc to be about with the aid of crutches. He will be unable to ride again this year. The string of A. IT. Vivell. including Gwynedd, Northern Lady aud Arbitrator, has left for Ti-rnoum, Mil. J. H. Wilkens stable of five. Headman. Justlaa K., Lucky Last, Zclota and Short Change, Iirs liecii shipped to Saratoga.
